Sounds like a silly question doesn't it? But you might be falling into this trap without realising it.
Here's how missing the mark in giving people what they want can sneak up on you. Some #hacks on how you can get back on the same page as your clients. And watch your business thrive again. And a really useful freebie walking you through aligning your passions and your clients desires.
Recently I've been working with some brand new clients. I love getting to know new health & wellness businesses, seeing their passion and finding out the story behind their brands. It's inspirational to see what needs are being met in our communities.
But one thing I keep stumbling across is these businesses often have problems selling certain products or services, and they just can't see why.
The problem often comes from a few different places
Shall I tell you what the problem is?
Okay, so really there are going to be a few different reasons, but this is the one that jumps out time and time again, and if you fix this the other problems are likely to pale into insignificance.
They're trying to sell something that people don't want, or can't see the value in.
Tapping into your clients desires is what drives people to learn more about your products or services. If they don't see the value to them in what you're selling then they won't engage with you.
It seems logical doesn't it!
With this difference between what people want and what you're selling you'll find it really hard to write the words in adverts, blogs or your website that attract the client to your products and services. You'll put in so much effort trying to connect but it'll never work because your client just doesn't have the desire. It'll also kill your passion if you're developing products and services that no one's picking up - or you're selling things that really leave you cold and don't inspire you. Try writing a blog on something that is an iceberg to you in terms of passion!
That's why, as a copy writer I've discovered that aligning your passion and your clients desires leads to a match made in writing heaven! The words flow, the product descriptions flow. Everything is just happy!
But often I see that there's this chasm between your passion and your clients desires that can really harm your business and morale.
I'll give you a couple of hints about how NOT to fill this chasm
Now, here's how you CAN easily fill the chasm
How does this work to fill the gap between your clients desires and your products and services? It focuses you on providing things that they want. If you give people what they want, they're engage with you.
Matching your passions with your clients desires makes everyone happy.
You're happy in the job you're doing, they're happy because they're getting products and services that help them. And because there's passion and desire in the mix you're more able to write the words that your clients connect with.
