Has the thought ever come to you about how on earth you’re going to stand out in such a crowded market place?
The wellness space is a multi-trillion dollar industry. And then there’s little old me.
I don’t mean to scare you (well, actually I do but only slightly), but if you’ve never considered this then the chances are that you’re a) doing brilliantly at your business b) earning a fortune already c) called “Ostrich”.
I hope you know me well enough by now to know that whenever I raise a problem I also give you a heap of ways to overcome it, get round it, or smash it into the ground with general good-vibes.
And that’s what I’m going to do.
But first, I’m going to explain what we’re up against. Because it’ll help show you how your wellness business can benefit from going against these marketing and industry trends.
First. We’re up against the robots
Yes, seriously. Call them algorithms or chat-bots or actual real “live” robots, Artificial Intelligence is becoming something serious to contend with.
How can you compete against something that can outsmart you? Can write better blogs than you? Or look better on Instagram?
Second. We’re trying to win over Millennials
Okay, I can say this. I’m Gen X. Just very impatient. But Gen Y or Millennials take this to a whole nother level. The chances are you’re a Millenial, so you might find what I say familiar. Millennials are said to be one of the least trusting generations of people.
So how can you build trust amongst a tribe who doubts everything?
Thirdly. We’re all in it together
This is a good thing, generally, because the more wellness that gets out there the better. But it does mean that more and more people are entering the wellness space.
If we shout louder do we really get heard more?
There are a heap more things we’re up against, but those are the big three for now.
Now. What to do about this.
Firstly. The Robots.
Yeah. Robots are kinda cool. But also they’re just not humans. We are. What makes us more valuable is that we can be there. Face to face. In front of people though meet and greets, conversations and workshops. Even virtually, we are still more responsive and give more connection than robots.
Secondly. The Millennials
Trust is something that we can do something about. But in an age where anyone can manipulate anything through technology, trust comes with hard work.
We learned from Artificial Intelligence that robots can provide anything, but we can provide experiences. Trust can be built from three simple foundations
Thirdly. Do I need to shout so loud?
No. You don’t. In fact, if you do you’ll lose your voice and that’s bad for business.
Think about scaling down to scale up. It’s not how loud you shout, it’s about talking to the right people. Just what I wrote about last week.
Creating experiences, being consistent and being there for the right tribe is all well and good.
